Life in a Pandemic

For most people around the world, 2020 turned out to be a chaotic year. Lives and jobs were lost, the economy fluctuated, quarantine became a common word and items such as masks and sanitizers became an everyday thing.

The pandemic strained the lives of millions, including college students that, like Kevin Bello, had to juggle academic and full-time jobs’ tasks. International travel was suspended which added more despair to the situation by keeping thousands of families away from each other for over six months.

The interview details the experience of Kevin Bello, a 23-year-old FIU student who also works for a Durable Medical Equipment company. Often overlooked, these type of companies struggled to stay afloat during the early stages of the pandemic due to the high demand of respiratory-related equipment. Bello details how despite the chaos of 2020, he continues to participate in the fight for freedom in his homeland, Cuba.
