Basketball has become the fastest-growing sport in America. NBA games have been bringing in millions of viewers and fans over the years. The league’s revenue had been increasing until the COVID-19 outbreak when the league had to stop in-person viewing for games. This caused a halt in the business side of the game and led to a loss of a huge portion of the revenue stream.

Teams earn revenue through a variety of channels such as television, merchandising, sponsorships, and ticket sales. According to Investopedia, the 30 teams making up the NBA had an average valuation of $2.12 billion each in the 2018–19 season. The entire NBA generated about $8.76 billion in revenue during this season as well.

The Los Angeles Lakers is the highest earning team with an average revenue total of $316 million in 2021. They have been in the top 3 since 2011, alongside the New York Knicks, who earned $298 million, and Golden State Warriors, who earned $258 million.

Based on these statistics, and how the season has been going, it is predicted that the top three earnings this year will continue to be the Knicks, Warriors, and Lakers.
