The Miami-Dade Public Library System (MDPLS) has enriched its community with culture, art, and entertainment for over the past century. With over 50 library branches, the MDPLS encompasses most of the county.

To promote culture and learning with cardholders, the MDPLS system offers the Museum Pass Program. This initiative allows families of up to four, who are MDC library card holders to enjoy exclusive access to some of South Florida’s most significant cultural and entertainment institutions. The Miami Dade library system has 50 locations spanning from the Naranja region to a little below Hollwood.

Some of the participating institutions include the acclaimed Bass Museum, the historic Coral Gables Museum, and the dynamic Perez Art Museum, although there are many more to visit. Library cardholders can choose from a variety of interests ranging from art to science, to Black history, and even children’s activities.

The Museum Pass program is a week-long extravaganza, as once you collect your pass from your library, you have seven days to go to your preferred museum. To secure your weekly museum, pass, you can visit your local MDPLS branch and ask a library staff member. Availability of the passes can also be checked online. However, there are only a limited set of passes released per week and they are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

While the pass promises a week-long cultural adventure, it comes with a few guidelines. It’s good for a single visit, not renewable or available for reservation. Passes that have been lost, won’t be replaced.

The Broward County Library system also has a keen focus on education, and opportunity. They offer 37 branch locations which span from Hallandale to the Boca Raton area.

For Broward County residents seeking educational and entertainment resources, Broward County libraries provide access to a rich collection of eBooks, music, videos, and electronic content. The library system also offers a plethora of community engagement events and free educational programs.

Interestingly, Broward County residents can also enjoy the MDPLS Museum Pass Program through the Southeast Florida Library Network (SEFLIN) Program. The program extends a range of services to over 300 libraries, including academic and public ones. By becoming a SEFLIN cardholder, members gain access to the participating library resources, educational opportunities, networking, etc.

Some of the participating academic libraries in the SEFLIN program include Browed County Library, Florida International University, University of Miami, and many more South Florida institutions.

The SEFLIN card program facilitates reciprocal borrowing among libraries in the SEFLIN region, covering Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties. Individuals aged 16 and above, possessing a valid library card from a participating library, are eligible for the SEFLIN One Card Program.
