Welcome to edition #13 of our Five on Friday, a weekly roundup of links to articles, videos or products that are interesting, inspiring, fun or simply beautiful. Grab your strawberry-banana smoothie, sit back, and enjoy.

Learn: How to solve problems like a designer

Solid video by Vox on how designers think and solve real world problems. Great to see that the boss at CEO is so transparent in sharing his process, and allowing us all to focus on the right steps.

Inspire: Fake designs yield real results

While unsolicited designs can be shot down quickly, I have always been a fan of allowing people to express themselves creatively. Claiming something is better without knowing all the requirements, goals and restraints is never a good thing, but just creating something for the sake of creating and scratching your creative itch allows you to grow. Fake it ‘till you make it.

Inspire: How ex-Apple and Disney Designers Created a Brand New Design Process

I’m not sure if I agree with the title, but it’s very inspiring to read nonetheless. You read about the journey of creating a new type of stuffed animals, that trigger the creativity hidden within children. Cool product, super inspiring.

Download: Notchless.space

I love how we’re all trying to hide that notch on the X. As most reviews now expressed, you get you used to it pretty quickly, but if you think about it again, it’s a thorn in your eye. These wallpapers at least hide it on your homescreen. Will test accordingly when I receive the iPhone X next week.

Lovely looking and tasting breakfast at Mook.

Eat: Mook Pancakes

If you ever find yourself in Amsterdam, go visit Mook (from the nickname mokum for Amsterdam) to enjoy a lovely (but heavy) brunch with pancakes. They have a wide range of pancakes to choose from and my favorite is the mancake with cheese, onions and bacon.
