It just became a lot easier to connect with city government in Dalton, GA, the “Carpet Capital of the World”. The city has launched SeeClickFix, a web and mobile platform that allows residents to submit requests to city hall, receive notifications from the city, and connect with neighbors.

Dalton’s City Administrator, Jason Parker, sees this as a major win. “We think this service will make it a lot easier for our residents to get problems in their
neighborhood fixed quickly” he says, “and will save city staff time that would have been used manually assigning the tasks.”

With SeeClickFix, citizens can report issues such as potholes, broken street lights, and flooded streets using their smartphones, Facebook, and/or the city website. The system automatically documents the request’s location via GPS and routes that request to the department responsible for resolving the issue. The platform has been tailored to track closure status, work order aging, location, and type of issue being reported.

In addition to reporting issues of their own, Dalton residents can use SeeClickFix to view, comment on, and vote to fix problems submitted by their neighbors. Residents can even create their own “watch areas” to receive notifications about issues reported in their community, enabling them to follow the progress of all service requests — not just the ones they report.

Requests can be submitted via the city’s website and through the SeeClickFix mobile app for Android or iOS.
