Introducing “Public Requests” feature in Flambu

What is the Public Request feature?
The public request is a new feature we developed in order to help you find the item you seek with the help of the Flambu community. When you look for a specific item and can not find it within the available items in the platform, you can post a public request so that other users in your vicinity can be notified about this request and they can provide you the item that you need.
Opening a public request is very easy. You can just tap the + button at the bottom right corner of the app and choose “Open public request”. Then you can simply write the description of the item you need, set your location (this will be kept private, and just an approximate distance to other users will be shown), and optionally add up to three pictures. This feature serves the purpose of providing the Flambu community easy access to almost every item, even the ones that have not been listed yet on the platform. Once a public request has been posted, it will appear in the “Public Request” feed of other users. In the feed, you can also see the requests opened by other community members and see if you can help them. We believe that this feature will increase everyone’s chance to find what they need and also provide what others need to generate extra income.
How it works?
The moment a public request is opened in the platform, a notification is sent to the other users located in the vicinity of the requester. Other users will be able to answer the public request notification. The moment a user taps on the answer button, a chat window is opened with the request’s detail at the top. This way both users will know what is the topic of the chat. Following the conversation, a related item can easily be listed on the platform and you can successfully rent it.
Why do we need it?
Our mission is to encourage access over ownership and to reduce overconsumption without changing the consumption level. We can experience and achieve more at lower costs. It is our desire to fill the marketplace with the items you need in a smart way. We are a diverse community, we all have different lifestyles, hobbies, passions, and needs. What you have might help other users in your region to experience more and what you need can be left unused at the storage or basement of someone around you.
