This is the first in a 28 story series of 150 word micro or flash fiction stories inspired by three things suggested by readers.

Today’s story is inspired by Jo, who submitted: band-aid, coffee and sunshine.

Thanks, Mum

“Ready, Josh?”

“No, Mum. Wait. I’m not ready yet.”

She grabbed the flapping end of the band-aid and ripped it off the little leg in one sharp motion.

“OUCH!”

“There we are. It’s all done.”

“OUCH, mum! Why did you do that?”

She scrunched up the band aid into a small ball and put it on the kitchen bench. “It’s all over now.” She smiled back at the stony faced expression.

The coffee she brought to her lips was lukewarm — it had not survived her session as medical counselor.

Ring, ring.

“I guess I’ll microwave that when I’m finished on the phone.” She put the coffee back, picked up the phone and walked out of the kitchen.

Josh grabbed the band aid and slipped it into the coffee mug in one sweeping motion.

The back door slammed behind him as he ran into the sunshine.

The next story in the series is inspired by: caravan, treadmill, BBQ
