Hi, guys, I’m Lee from Flaunt Digital.

Today we’re going to talk about 10 tips on how you can generate relevant site traffic in 2018. We’ll jump straight in.

So, the first one — creating valuable content. What we mean by that is actually thinking about what the user wants to see, what the user wants to read, and how you can provide value for that.

Then the second one, straight into social media. In terms of distribution, social media is free. It’s something that you can leverage quite easily. So, when you’re putting content out, make sure that you’re pushing it across all your social networks.

The third tip is to select the right social network for your audience. Think about who your customer is, think about where they hang out. If you’re dealing with a product that is relevant to women between 35 and 45, you might think about Pinterest, which is a visual platform. Whereas, if you’ve got a B2B business, you might want to focus your attention on LinkedIn.

Number four is to optimize your blog posts for long-tail keywords. Think about the things that are more conversational, the things that people will actually search for. So, instead of shooting for something, if you’re selling cars, “VW Golf”, you may shoot for “VW Golf review” or “how to maintain your VW Golf”, “how to get the best price for a VW Golf” and things like that.

Then number five, engaging with relevant people on social media. Seeking people out that are talking about what you’re putting out, what content you’re doing and making sure that you’re showing a bit of gratitude there, trying to help them out. If they don’t understand something, jump in there and give them some advice!

Number six on the list is to analyse your content’s traffic data. If you’re putting content out regularly you should have a platform behind it such as Google Analytics, which is free to implement. Looking at how your content is performing, you should be able to pick up tips that will help you develop that and make it more effective in the future.

Number seven is to use relevant imagery. So, sites like Unsplash, for example, offer royalty-free imagery that will supplement your content, which is really useful. Visuals are always helpful in content.

Number eight on the list is to create as many formats as you can. So, if you’re putting a video out, for example, you would then be able to transcribe that into a blog post. You can put social media shorts, which you can pull out of that video. You can transcribe that. You can turn it into a podcast. So, from one video, you can end up with 12 different pieces of content. It’s really just about making sure that you’re putting as many different types of content out as you can.

Number nine on the list is to engage with influencers. It can sometimes be quite difficult to strike up a relationship with an influencer. They’re obviously going to be busy. They’ve got a high-profile. So, wherever you can, trying to work with and collaborate with influencers is only going to raise your profile. It’s something that can be really, really good to capitalize on.

And then finally, which is probably the most important thing, is consistency. Be consistent with the content you’re putting out. Keep going and keep putting it out. Don’t worry about how many likes and subscribes you’re getting, just keep pushing that content out. The more content you’ve got out there, the more entry points you’ve got, the more touch points you’ve got with your audience.
