Love Lies?
Those stories they tell you growing up seem
only to laugh in my face these days;
The truth of life and love have smacked me
across my forgotten smile;
Tales of romance and joy escape their prison
I held in my mind;
Releasing the ideas I was fed my whole life
has led me to despair;
Keeping me questioning if I’ll every find my fairytale
or if those words were all lies.
