YouTube can be considered both an app and a platform (or channel, in a broad sense). Like Netflix, it’s an app that people use daily to watch videos, but there are some key differences that I will share below. YouTube has become a go-to platform where people can find out what others think on a wider range of topics. It is a good place to find many video reviews on products. It can be a helpful platform.

YouTube as an App:

It’s available on smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and computers.
It allows users to stream content on demand. Like Netflix, it offers a subscription model (YouTube Premium) for an ad-free experience.

YouTube as a Platform:

Unlike Netflix, YouTube is not just for professionally produced content — it’s an open platform where anyone can upload videos. It has a mix of user-generated content, professional media, and live streams. People can subscribe to specific YouTube channels, which function like TV channels or shows.
