Sparks №43: Inching Towards the Last 100 Days of the Year
A roundup of the latest Flint & Steel articles and September writing prompts across Medium-land
“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go. They merely determine where you start.”
— Nido Qubein
Happy Wednesday to all! Tomorrow, September 22, marks the last 100 days of the year. As you know, I’m a sucker for goal setting. I’m using these last 100 days as a reminder of what I need to do to make sure I’m staying on track for my biggest goal of this year (spoiler: finishing the first draft of my book that I keep changing mid-course).
As we all know, time slips through our fingers each day BUT we should feel grateful for a new sunrise as a chance to inch closer to the goals we have set for ourselves.
Each morning, I journal my inner frustrations as a way to push them out of the way, giving myself grace to start again. There is no shame in restarting. Give yourself that permission each morning.
Maybe it’s a day for reflection and self-care. Maybe it’s a day to write my heart out. Maybe it’s a day in between.
I use these type of milestones, like January 1st or the last 100 days as a way to regroup and figure out how I’m doing on my track to my longterm goals.
My focus remains on writing my book. I’ll use these 100 days to finish the first draft and use NaNoWriMo in November as an accountability tool to do so.
Writing prompt: So my question for you this week is how will you use the last 100 days of this year? Where does your focus gravitate in terms of your writing, family, personal care, the holidays, etc? Share your goals with us as a way to stay accountable.
