How make money in Mastodon with “Sub Club” service

Writing free posts for the Fediverse and for platforms based on ActivityPub is and will remain a free and beautiful activity.

In particular, on Mastodon, it is very easy to create posts with links, images, videos, and more.

But if you wanted to create exclusive content for subscribed users? So far, it was not possible, if not through services like Patreon, which, however, require greater effort from the user, going to visit that different platform in a somewhat complicated way.

Sub.club simplifies the process.

The author of the posts subscribes (with quotas starting at $3) to the service (here). He/She create his/her profile (indicating the Fediverse instance they are a part of), set their financial data (personal data, IBAN, and other relevant information), and then send a direct message to their own account created (in my case — I’m a Flipboard user and creator that uses “flipboard.social” as Fediverse instance — the account is @salvomic@sub.club) to activate it.

When the person want to publish exclusive posts for subscribers, he do so by sending a direct message (DM) to this account, setting the privacy to restricted to the accounts mentioned in the post.

Individuals interested in subscribing to the account receive a link containing the subscription instructions upon payment of the subscription fee. Subsequently, they…
