We all have visions and goals that keep us moving, whether about starting a successful business, writing a best-selling book, or traveling the world. And the truth is that we can achieve anything we want by taking control of our lives and making conscious choices.

My story starts when I was in grade eight. A teacher, who was there for an extra lecture, gave a talk on the power of the controlled subconscious and how we can achieve the impossible by controlling our thoughts and beliefs. At the time, I was struggling with my health. I had been suffering from fever, on and off for weeks, accompanied by shivering cold sweats. It had disrupted my studies, and I was feeling helpless.

As I listened, something clicked inside me. I realized that if I could control myself, I could overcome my physical ailments too.

That night, I decided to try it out. I closed my eyes and focused on my breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts. I then told myself that I could never get a fever again, no matter what. At first, it was so difficult to believe. But I kept repeating the affirmation, day after day. Whenever I felt a twinge of sickness, I would remind myself that I was healthy and more sturdy than before.

To my amazement, it worked. I didn’t have a fever since then, not even once. Years passed, and I graduated from school, went to college, and started working. But that lesson stayed with me always. I realized that our feelings and principles have immense power over our lives. We are determined to believe in our limitations or break free from these by controlling our minds.

As I explored it further, I found some interrelated but different techniques that serve the same purpose.

A. Meditation:

Meditation involves training to become more present and aware, which can help to reduce stress, anxiety, and negative thinking patterns. Through practicing meditation regularly, we may seek to control our minds and achieve greater mental and emotional well-being. Set the time frame for which you want to meditate. If you are a beginner, start with just a few minutes and gradually increase the duration. Don’t worry if your concentration ambles, or you find it hard to take heed, at the start. I do it occasionally when I am stressed and want to relax.

B. Affirmations:

Affirmations correspond with it the most because this technique helped me at the start when I was struggling. All you have to do is start by choosing affirmations that resonate with you and your goals.

For example, if you try to improve your self-confidence, you might pick some statements like, “I am confident,” I believe in myself,” or “I trust my abilities.” Start repeating your affirmations to yourself. Say each slowly and with conviction, and try to visualize yourself embodying the qualities or traits you are affirming.

For example, if you want to affirm that “I am confident,” imagine yourself standing tall and speaking confidently in a situation where you might have previously felt unsure.

The more you repeat your affirmations, the more they will become ingrained in your subconscious. By affirming positive beliefs, we can reprogram our minds to focus on success and overcome negative thoughts and principles.

C. Visualization:

When you visualize, you create a blueprint for success. By seeing yourself achieving your goals, you’re more likely to take the steps necessary to make them a reality. Visualization can also help you overcome self-doubt and negative self-talk. Also, by focusing on positive effects, everyone can create a more optimistic and confident mindset. It almost resembles the above-described steps. The difference is that you should be more precise, make it as detailed as possible, and use all your senses to create a vivid picture in your imagination. See yourself achieving your goal and experiencing the feelings associated with it. Imagine how it would look, sound, feel, and even smell. Here comes the magic as everything in the universe starts assisting you in attaining your goal.

D. Hypnosis:

It is a skill that takes time and practice to develop. You may not experience significant results immediately, but along with consistency, you can achieve powerful results. It is similar to hypnotherapy, which targets the subconscious brain. You have to give yourself instructions by keeping yourself in a state of total relaxation, then putting your focus on an object, and then teaching yourself the goal you want to attain. I do not have any experience with hypnosis currently. Still, I bet it would be worth trying.

If you want to go into a more detailed aspect of the story, as it is the journey making you a master of your thoughts and harnessing your mind is always played as well as, a key to meaningful life where your goals and aspirations are fulfilled, by you and yourself only.
