Who are we?
Flipside Governance is a team of DAO & Governance obsessooors working to advance decentralized ecosystems one vote & forum post at a time. We are a think-tank and a task force — harnessing data analytics to contribute to the growth of DAOs, protocols, and networks across the space.
Our Vision & Values
DAOs face a growing set of challenges that require dedicated contributors and governance innovators to tackle head on. At Flipside, we are committed to helping protocols navigate these challenges through our governance contributions.
Good governance starts with a set of core values and principles. Our values — integrity, conviction, and transparency — guide our contributions and our conduct.
As delegates, we seek to make DAOs better by:
- Actively engaging on forums, discords, and public discourse channels
- Leveraging our data to inform decision-making
- Voting consistently and honestly on all proposals
- Providing unbiased rationale and proposal feedback
- Drafting comprehensive, data-backed proposals
- Publishing governance research and analysis

Where We Play
Flipside Governance participates across the ecosystem, as delegates, token holders, and contributors. Our team does not have a mandate on where to invest our resources — instead we have full discretion to identify key projects & use cases, from lending to AMMs to bridges to L2s, that are critical to the broader ecosystem and support them through governance & analytics.
Currently, we contribute to both established projects, including MakerDAO, Aave, and Sushi, and emerging ones, such as Marinade Finance, Osmosis Labs, and Optimism. See where we play below:
When we choose to get involved, we get deeply involved. Our team focuses on making an immediate impact through insightful data analytics, well-constructed proposals, and honest forum discourse.
We consistently look to get involved beyond standard delegate and contributor responsibilities. Our team holds leadership positions in Aave Grants DAO, MetricsDAO, and MonkeDAO. These positions allow us to not just participate in, but design governance systems — to walk the walk — which informs our understanding of governance dynamics and best practices.
Team Structure
Our five, full-time team members have extensive operational experience and expertise across multiple verticals — Engagement (Protocol Specialists), Research, Data Analytics, and Gov Ops.
Our engagement team takes the lead in the forums, on Discord, and any public discourse in between. The research team is responsible for thought leadership that looks to push the envelope of governance design. Data analytics leverages Flipside’s wealth of cross-chain data to bring ammunition (in the form of cold, hard numbers) to both teams. GovOps — short for Governance Operations — ties it all together via voting and documentation.
Regardless of vertical, all team members are active governance contributors. Team members often gravitate toward specialization (e.g. by chain, by protocol) with the autonomy to engage with and develop expertise in any protocol — no egos here!
What We Offer
Active Forum Engagement & Proposal Execution
Our engagement in forums is critical to our success as delegates and contributors. If we participate in a protocol, we commit to being on the ground (and in the weeds) — actively discussing, proposing, and debating in forums, chats, and Discords. We strive to be accountable, reliable, and professional — it is our full-time job to actively participate.
Data analytics forms the backbone of all our contributions, which extend from evaluating protocol performance and identifying issues, to constructing detailed proposals and informing voters. Take a look at an example proposal below:
And a few proposal responses + evaluations:
Data ensures that our contributions are substantiated and insightful, which is critical for healthy public discourse.
In-Depth Data Analytics & Dashboarding
Our data analytics team leverages Flipside’s industry-leading data network (12+ chains) to quantify the impact of proposals, track voter participation, understand power distributions, and increase retention and user acquisition.
We support protocols with dashboards that provide clarity into these critical governance dynamics. Below is a Governance Analytics Dashboard that we produced for Marinade:
In addition to our governance-specific data scientists, our team is consistently engaged with the 70+ team members at Flipside, who are embedded throughout the crypto ecosystem. To supercharge our insights, we can tap into the 13,000+ Flipside analysts that participate in daily analytics and dashboard challenges.
Research & Thought Leadership
Participation is critical, but we want to move the space forward through thought leadership that innovates governance design. What drives participation? What voting models work the best? How should protocols think about designing governance effectively? We have the data (and a few outside-the-box thinkers) to bring these insights to protocols.
Using that data, we share analytical research pieces on governance trends, tools, and voting models that inform the decisions and design choices of protocols:
In addition to thought leadership, our team publishes a weekly recap of our governance activity. We want to set the standard for transparency, so we include the rationale for all of our votes.
Check out all of our research and recaps here.
Transparent Voting Processes
Our internal voting process is democratic. Regardless of position, tenor, or age, all team members have equal voting power in every proposal. No one operates in a silo — while team members may specialize in certain protocols or ecosystems, each proposal is discussed and voted on as a team. This process lends itself to cross-protocol knowledge sharing — our shared expertise across protocols and chains allows us to identify similarities and make more informed decisions.
We use a simple majority to govern how we vote. Five team members ensure that votes usually end up with a majority. In the case of three voting options (e.g. Abstain), tied votes will result in an additional round of discussion to break the tie.
Recently, we have launched internal voting on Snapshot and Realms. We believe that it is important to align our internal processes with the processes of the protocols that we support. Moving forward, we will continue to test new governance tooling for our internal processes, which will allow us to bring experiential insight to projects making tooling decisions.
But wen token? We just launched a non-transferable token ($GOV token, FTW!) on Polygon to facilitate our internal voting process (i.e. for team members only). Read more about it here.
Governance Incubation
Actively participating, contributing on leadership teams, and pushing out research are all great — but have you ever built a DAO from the ground up? Yes! We helped launch MetricsDAO, a community of analysts that support blockchains and protocols through on-demand data analytics. Read more about the mission below.
MetricsDAO provides on-demand analytics for crypto projects in near real-time. Its operating system sources the right questions, provides community solutions, and rewards analysts in the project’s native token — thereby driving user growth and acquisition for DAOs.
Incubating DAOs allow us to view governance from a different perspective. As we look for more opportunities to incubate DAOs, we will leverage this experience in designing governance, creating and managing voting rights, and progressively decentralizing projects to inform our contributions in more established DAOs.
So Why Delegate?
Active engagement + transparent voting + data analytics + governance dashboards + constructive proposals + thought leadership + DAO incubation = Flipside Governance.
If you choose to delegate to Flipside, your voting power will go to a full-time team of experienced governance contributors that are committed to helping protocols succeed with support from the best data in the biz. Together, we can greatly impact our nascent industry for the better!
