According to a report released by nScreen Media, the number of cord-cutters and cord-nevers has more than tripled since 2014, reaching an estimated 50.4 million households by the end of 2021. If you are unfamiliar with the terms, cord-cutters are people who switch from a pay-TV subscription to an Internet-based streaming service. Cord-nevers are people who have never subscribed to a pay-TV service.

The growing OTT market offers consumers an abundance of content choices at price points that fit all budgets, including free, ad-supported options with simple and quick sign-up processes. This makes the cable, telco, and satellite offerings seem limited and frankly a hassle to set up. Why schedule an appointment to get cable installed when you can instantly sign-up for a streaming service instead? This is one of the many reasons why younger people are more likely to cut the cord.
