I’m typing this post on Medium, our new home for Float news and updates, and it feels great. We believe Medium is the best platform right now for long-form content, distribution and discussion. We hope you dig it, let us know what you think in the comments.

With some brilliant sporting highlights of late, and the Olympics right around the corner, it seems appropriate that our theme this month has been power and performance.

Power

Navigating between sections is now super-fast, with no page refresh required between schedule, people and projects.

These sections now act ‘as one’, delivering another advantage: The same search. Search once and we’ll maintain the filter across sections.

Here’s an example. Say you use the search bar to filter the schedule by:

  • ‘Design’ department
  • ‘Full-time’ staff
  • ‘Website Redesign’ project

Previously this search would be lost if you jumped to the people or projects sections. Not anymore. When you jump to the people section, you’ll continue to see these people, and from the projects page you’ll just see this project. Seamless.

We’ll be extending this feature to the reports section soon, as part of our Reports V2 update. Stay tuned for more on that.

Performance

In the past 12 months Float’s user base has more than tripled. We’re in more than 90 countries, with teams logging in daily to schedule their team’s time.

We need to be critical of how this growth affects each customer’s experience. Speed and stability are paramount, our goal is to save you time. This last month we made several database optimizations, server updates and additional redundancies. You can monitor system performance from our Status Page.

Look out for another update later this month, including an even easier way to login.

Happy July from the team at Float.
