Over the past few weeks we’ve been hard at work on the top two most requested features for Flow Home: Widgets and Feedly support. We’ve been through 17 versions in testing and think it’s probably ready for everyone else to try out.

Widgets (Experimental)

We’re calling widget support experimental for two reasons: We still might change where they live in the interface, and there are probably still a couple bugs. Our goals with widgets were to 1) Allow quick access, while 2) not ruining the look of your theme since widgets can’t really be styled. We’ve solved this by adding a pull out drawer beneath the header.

To give it a try you’ll need to enable widgets in the settings. Then just pull down on the feed to reveal the widget drawer. Long press on a widget to resize and remove (the second screenshot shows that interface).

Feedly (News & RSS)

The other major feature in this release is support for Feedly. Just head into service settings and log in to your Feedly account. We’ll start loading recent articles from your subscriptions, including full article text when available.

You can save an article for later, share with friends and swipe away to mark an article as read. Our article reader view supports images, videos, music players, GIFs, pretty much everything.

Other Stuff

We replaced our weather data provider which should improve accuracy. You should also notice some nice new fade effects when scrolling (you can control the details of those effects in settings). Finally we’ve put a lot of effort into fixing crashes and improving stability across the entire app. Hopefully you notice and improvement, but let us know either way.

Hope you like it!
