Flow Home Beta 20 is making it’s way out to the Play Store and contains some big changes. But first, a bit of bad news: We were forced to remove Facebook support in this version due to a critical API being shut down by Facebook. We have explored a number of options but at this point there appears to be no workaround. Our only option was to remove it from the app altogether. We’ll keep looking for alternative methods of getting the data we need, and hope to return it to the app at some point in the future.

The good news is we’ve added Reddit! You can log in with your Reddit account and we’ll show you the top stories from across all your subreddits. You can also change between seeing the different story sorting methods like Hot, New, Top, etc. Both gifv and animated gifs can be viewed right in our detail view, no need to open a web browser to see all your most important content.

We’ve also noticed that different feeds have very different update frequencies, lower volume services like Instagram can get buried by Twitter for example.

The new filtering UI in beta 20.

To help with that we’ve added a really fast filtering system accessible by swiping up on the quick launch circle.

This allows you to show any specific combination of feeds for a while, then quickly switch back to your entire combined feed.

Some nice shortcuts are available too. Try long pressing on a specific feed icon to show only entries from that feed. A long press on the checkmark icon will enable all feed types again.

A number of optimizations were done to feed loading and sorting in order to support filtering, but it should also provide a nice performance improvement for general use as well.

We hope you like the new features, we’re always interested in your feedback over at @flowhomeapp and our G+ alpha community.
