With the topic of sustainability and environmental awareness being a big current conversation that’s sweeping the media, it’s time to reflect on the quality and level of environmental friendliness of our living conditions, which is something that might always sit in the back of our mind.
- The light of your life — One of the simplest measures we can take to start our sustainable journey is to be mindful with our use of lights: Did you know that LED lights can cut your power consumption by 80% as opposed to standard filament bulbs?! Also, try to remember your lights are like a dripping tap, and turning them off when not in use can save you — and the planet — in the long run.
- Reduce, reuse, recycle! — 2019 has seen a big movement of shifting away from single-use plastics and a progression in waste management. Separating recyclables such as glass, plastic, tin and paper can greatly reduce your carbon footprint. Also, glass is all the rage right now! Natural in origin, easy to clean, reusable and stylish!
- Pay bills electronically — An easy way to reduce paper use and with the development of tech, paying bills is getting way easier through online services. Less paper means a better carbon footprint! You can also pay your rent through Flow and get rewarded for it ;)
- Watch your water — In South Africa, water is a touchy subject as we are constantly facing water cuts. In order to do our part, simple things such as putting a brick in your toilet tank or making sure your taps are closed fully make all the difference!
Flow is here to help with streamlining and saving wherever you can so we hope these tips will help in making your living space the most sustainable on the block!
