This Creator’s Corner is an extra fluffy one.
With our Thingies just launched, and already causing a stir in FLUF World, what better time to interview the man behind the tools, and the FLUF collections you know and love, Jesse Metcalfe, AKA SirnoFluf.
The Chief Architect of our Fluffy little matrix, we fired Jesse a few questions to give you all some insight into his design background, raging fur obsession and what he’s most excited about in our shared industry.
Like most of us, you’ll probably be scratching your heads when we tell you that Jesse is still a studying design student. Where he finds the time is a mystery to us all, but as the old adage ’30 mins max’ goes, in FLUF World, time is illusory. So we stopped asking questions.
What it does show, is that his passion for design runs deep. One of ongoing exploration and innovation, for which he needs more than one creative outlet.
Inquisitive and influenced by the world around him, early works like Lost Children examine what it means to be human in a changing world; one on the precipice of chaos and transformation, ushering his foray into new expressive realities like our shared metaverse.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts under his belt, the VED program at EU caught his eye; he now balances his time between expanding his growing skillset and passion projects like FLUF World.
For this, we’re grateful. Because without Jesse, FLUF World wouldn’t exist. An integral brain behind our operation, and one even an ASM AI would be jealous of, Jesse brings a curiosity for innovation and design, a thirst for creating, and a love of the NFT space, to his role as Co-Founder and Creative Director.
But why Flufs? When Jesse and our other Co-Founder Alex Smeele (AKA the Flufmeister General, Fluffy Business) got chatting about starting an NFT project, they had a few ideas in mind.
Pixel of the Apes was their first foray into the space of crypto-based collectibles, Non-Fungible Labs now-flagship collection, and the one that started it all. When a generative art project came up in conversation, Jesse’s pet rabbit ‘Foo’ hopped into the picture, and the rest was history. Wanting to create something around animals, Foo was the furry little flame that set FLUF World in motion, inspiring a whirlwind creative journey that’s grown FLUF World into an industry-leading NFT and metaverse project, and the most incredible community in the space (officially verified by us of course).
With Jesse’s head, and hands, deep in the process of building out our ever-expanding world, from Flufs, to Thingies and more creations to come, you could say he’s in his happy place. Using his skills for a purposeful, community-based project, empowering the creative communities he’s proud to be part of, while still finding time to learn, grow, and develop as an eternal student of the arts.
While this doesn’t come easy for him, it definitely comes naturally. Being deep in the industry is something that keeps his flame burning, rather than burning him out. Seeing the incredible work being done in the music, visual arts and NFT scene is fuel to Jesse’s fire, and something that pushes him to continue perfecting his craft.
Like all of our community, it’s safe to say we’re proud members of the Jesse Metcalfe Fanclub. It’s an honour to call him ‘one of us’ and we’re Fluffin’ excited to see the vibrant canvas that is our shared FLUF World continue to take shape under his masterful eye.
