AirSwap Team Update: Dec. 21, 2017
Token Trader is now in open beta, the team wraps up its community tour through Asia, Sam interviews on CNBC, and Link heads to Las Vegas for AWS re:Invent.
Token Trader is in open beta
Token Trader is a simple interface for making trades with a designated market maker. If you’ve used ShapeShift before, the interaction model is similar, where you’re trading something that you have, like AST, for something that the maker has, like ether. To learn more about the AirSwap Token Trader, check out the design post here.
Token Trader is an end-to-end implementation of the Swap Peer and Oracle protocols, allowing us to solidify the trading experience for both market makers and traders. A strong token trading network, providing liquidity, connectivity, and reach, starts with a plug-and-play ecosystem for market makers to push trade flow through friendly frontends.
We’ve been collecting feedback and fine-tuning the application, setting us up for an on-track mainnet release early next year.
AirSwap in Asia
The team has been touring Asia to build community through relationships and local meetups. We started our tour in Hong Kong, having incorporated there, to catch up on the latest and meet partners throughout the industry. The team also went to Singapore, Huangzou, Tokyo and Seoul. Take a look at some of the photo’s and highlights below.
Sam Tabar’s CNBC interview
On December 14, we participated in a panel in Singapore at the PayPal Innovation Lab with indorse.io, ConsenSys, Latham & Watkins, and Singapore Management University, and later gave a presentation reporting on the latest news with AirSwap.
Luncheon with FinTech leaders in Singapore
While in Singapore, we were proud to sponsor a luncheon for women founders and leaders of regional blockchain companies.
Just a few days later, we presented in Hangzhou at X-Works with imToken and Trinity Protocol.
In Seoul earlier today, Oved presented AirSwap and the 2018 roadmap to a full house hosted by TokenPost and EconoTimes.
Blockchain: “Rearranging Trust” Webinar
Oved joined Cornerstone Capital’s Sebastian Vanderzeil for a conversation to answer:
- How does blockchain interact and change the need for trust?
- How are financial intermediaries likely to be impacted by the development of a decentralized, “trustless” network supported by blockchain?
- What risks are present in a removal or shift in trust?
AWS re:Invent 2017
AirSwap attended re:Invent this year learning how to build for massive scale. Since we are looking at 2018 as the year where AirSwap is available everywhere for instant, easy token exchanging, we need to think big from the start and design our systems to scale accordingly. We attended breakout groups and workshops on analytics at scale, learning from the likes of FINRA, the SEC, and large trading firms about data archiving, business intelligence, and managing tens of thousands of servers. While the datasets at some of these institutions are 50,000x larger than the entire Ethereum blockchain, knowing where we as a cryptocurrency community can get to is exciting. Watch for updates from the tech team in 2018 as we shift to Fargate, use AWS Systems Manager, and talk about security with AWS and Hashicorp products.
