We’re thrilled to introduce $GUM, our native fungible token on the Flow blockchain. This guide will help you prepare for the upcoming launch of $GUM and make the most of its features.
What is $GUM?
$GUM is a utility token that powers the Flunks ecosystem. It is a fungible token that you can currently earn by staking Flunks and Flunks Backpacks. This token is designed to enhance the functionality of the Flunks ecosystem, enriching your experience and making it more engaging. Additionally, in the future, there will be additional ways to earn $GUM *wink*. Before we learn the various use cases for $GUM, let’s explore how you can earn it!
How to Earn $GUM
Earning $GUM is straightforward and rewarding:
- Flunks: By staking your Flunks NFTs, (We’ll cover how to do this when it’s live.) you can earn 5 $GUM per 24 hours. The $GUM accumulates over time and can be claimed at any moment. For example, if you stake a Flunk for 48 hours, you’ll have 10 $GUM available to claim. If you leave it staked for longer, it will continue to accumulate. (If you REALLY want your $GUM as soon as possible, you may claim it every 30 seconds)
- Backpacks: Each Backpack earns a flat rate of 1 $GUM per 24 hours.
Additionally, each slot a Backpack has will increase its earning rate by 0.1 $GUM per 24 hours. If you have a backpack with 11 slots its earn rate will be equal to 1 $GUM + 1.1 $GUM for a total of 2.1 $GUM every 24 hours.
Note: The GUM earning rates are currently in beta and are subject to change as we continue to refine the system.
Preparing to Obtain $GUM
Since fungible tokens like $GUM cannot be held in Dapper Wallet, you’ll need to set up a non-custodial wallet such as Blocto or Flow Core. Here’s how to get started:
- Set Up a Non-Custodial Wallet: If you don’t already have one, create a Blocto or Flow Core wallet. For detailed walkthroughs, check out this guide on creating a Blocto wallet and this link to download the Flow Core wallet app.
- Request Access to Account Linking: If you haven’t done so already, it will be necessary for you to request access to account linking from Dapper. Here’s how to link your Dapper Wallet for enhanced features:
- Start a Dapper Support Ticket.
- Add the email address associated with your Dapper Wallet.
- Select “Account Linking” as the reason for contact.
- Use “Account Linking” as the subject.
- In the description, request access to Account Linking.
- Submit the ticket.
Most users have reported a response time within 24 hours. For more details, refer to this X post by Flowty_io.
3. Account Linking via Dapper Wallet:
- Access Account Linking: In your Dapper Wallet, find the “Account Linking” option.
- Link Your Wallets: Follow the prompts to link your Dapper Wallet to your Blocto or Flow Core wallet. This process will transfer the management of your Flunks from Dapper to the non-custodial wallet.
- Confirm and Secure: Ensure the linking is successful and that your new wallet is secure and ready to use.
Note: If you prefer not to go through the account linking process, you can transfer your Flunks from your Dapper Wallet to a non-custodial wallet. To do this, navigate to your Dapper Wallet Inventory, select the Flunks you want to transfer and follow the prompts to connect to your non-custodial wallet and complete the transfer.
Uses of $GUM
$GUM will be a versatile currency within the Flunks ecosystem, offering various exciting uses:
- Flunk-E-Mart: Spend your $GUM on a range of items at our upcoming shop, Flunk-E-Mart, including Flow, ETH and SOL blockchain NFTs, Flunks merchandise, and other collectibles. The Flunk-E-Mart will be your go-to place for exclusive and exciting items within the ecosystem.
- Pocket Juniors: Coming soon, you’ll be able to use $GUM to acquire Pocket Juniors, our upcoming 3D collection and the favourite toys of Flunks! Pocket Juniors (Also known as Juniors) are bare-bodied digital collectibles that can be dressed up with various clothing traits, adding a layer of customization and [REDACTED] to your collection. Each Junior has 7 trait spots, allowing for diverse combinations. Traits come in various rarities and include [REDACTED], enhancing their functionality.
