iOS 14: How to Automatically Change Your iPhone’s Wallpaper

It offered great and exciting opportunities for customizing one’s iPhone as per the latest trends and options available with the latest update.

However, setting custom home screens in iOS 14 can be a little tedious for users as it demands them to download dozens of app icons, create separate launch shortcuts for each one, set up corresponding widgets in apps such as Widgetsmith, and find a wallpaper to match. Sounds like a lot of tasks in one go, right?

Luckily, there are other alternatives to refresh your home screen without taking up many tasks. You can simply schedule automatic updates for your iPhone wallpaper. How can you do this? Let us dig deeper and learn the methods of doing it. With the latest iOS 14.3 update, you can set new wallpapers from your camera roll, already existing photo album, or even from online sources that offer free or paid images. You will still have to spend some time doing it, but it cuts off a lot of time that you would otherwise spend on the traditional method.

You can automatically change your iPhone wallpaper by using the Apple Shortcuts app that allows all kinds of custom actions and events on your phone. To begin with, iOS 14.3 Shortcuts includes the ability to set or change a wallpaper. By scheduling these Shortcuts, you can enjoy seeing your background update on their own. Before starting with the process, you will have to prepare your iPhone with some setup steps.

So, let us get started!

  1. Download the Shortcut app on your iPhone.
  2. Head to Adjustment > Shortcut > enable Allow Untrusted Shortcuts
  3. Then open your phone’s browser and download Shortcut automatically.
  4. Once the website loads, tap on Get shortcut. After this, you will be redirected to the Shortcut app. Scroll down and tap Add Untrusted Shortcut.
  5. Then go to My shortcuts and tap on the three dots on the AutoWall shortcut.
  6. Hereafter, tap on Allow Access after tapping Fine allow AutoWall to access your photos
  7. Then, you can also choose the folder from which you want to automatically keep updating the wallpaper.
  8. Once you have selected the desired folder, tap Done to save the shortcut.

You are done setting the shortcut. You still have a few more steps to go. So, let us set up the automation process by following these steps.

  1. Open the Shortcut app> tap on Automation > tap on Create personal automation.
  2. Then choose the Day time option.
  3. Next, set the time and frequency for your automation.
  4. Then tap ahead after tapping Add verb on the following screen.
  5. Next, search for Play shortcut Take action, and select it.
  6. Then tap Short cut and choose more Autowall from the list of available shortcuts.
  7. Tap ahead. Then disable Ask before running to make sure that automation turns on automatically.
  8. Finally, tap done to complete the automation process.

So, after doing all these steps, every time you set the clock for automation, your iPhone will automatically change the home screen and lock screen wallpaper.
