The big-picture and longer term implications of a pandemic that has already claimed thousands of lives, cratered global economies and closed international borders is still unknown, but two things are already certain. We’re heading for a global recession and our daily lives will be changed forever. Given the health implications and rising death tolls, things already seem to be quite different from the last two down cycles, however there are some key things to learn — those businesses and individuals that made prudent cost-cutting alongside placing some investment bets were the winners.

Given the context we’re now operating in, we’ve decided to help the nation develop much-needed design-thinking skills by sharing some of our tips, tricks, tools and methodologies. We’ve pulled together the most useful aspects of what we do into an “Innovation Starter Kit”. In just two weeks you’ll learn how to define a problem statement, shape ideas, get to know customers, sketch assumptions, experiment at pace and start to build your investment case.

Whether you are still working, on furlough, a student, freelancer or a leader of a team that needs motivating, this is a great time to invest in developing new skills for an uncertain future. By the end of the two weeks you’ll learn how to move from initial inspiration and idea through to testing and developing a pilot. For now, we’re only making this available during lockdown and the price will be £895 plus VAT per participant to cover our costs.

At Fluxx we’ve spent the last 10 years supporting hundreds of businesses to place the right bets to create winning brands, products and services. We developed GiffGaff from scratch for O2, created Europe’s number one health app, Ada , and worked with clients Conde Nast to build Vogue Business, to name a few. Along the way we’ve helped thousands of people within these companies to build their own innovation and proposition development capabilities. So, our skilled practitioners, who aren’t lecturers or teachers, have pulled together this two week hands-on learning experience.

Interestingly, the government body, Innovate UK will be investing up to £20 million in innovation projects with the aim of supporting people to focus on emerging or increasing needs of society and industries during and following the Covid-19 pandemic. By fast-tracking innovation, the UK will be better placed to maintain employment levels, a competitive position in global markets and make the UK more resilient to similar disruption. Applications must demonstrate both realistic and significant benefits. Our Innovation Starter Kit will be able to help you submit a well thought through and evidence based application.
