A quick guide to prepare for our launch on the leading decentralized crypto exchange
Flycoin is going live on Uniswap Thursday, April 14th at 12pm PDT, so mark your calendars! A few weeks ago, we announced that FLY would soon be listed on the leading decentralized exchange, and now the time has finally come. In this article, we’ll give a brief overview of Uniswap for those new to crypto, as well as a quick “how-to” guide to setting up MetaMask. Let’s get started!
About Uniswap
For those new to the crypto space, welcome! We are excited to have you, and even more excited to share our news of listing FLY on Uniswap. Some of you may be asking, “What is Uniswap?” In short, Uniswap is a leading decentralized crypto exchange (DEX) that runs on Ethereum. It differs from centralized exchanges (CEX) in that it is not owned or operated by anyone entity, and it utilizes automated market making to allow users to swap ERC20 tokens. Getting Started
In order to purchase or “swap” for FLY on Uniswap, there are a few steps you’ll need to take first if you’re new. Don’t worry, it’s quite simple and we’ll walk you through it here.
Step 1. Install a crypto wallet
The first thing you’ll need to do is set up a crypto wallet. We recommend MetaMask. You can install MetaMask for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Edge browsers. Simply navigate to the MetaMask site and click “Download Now.” Congrats! You’ve officially installed MetaMask to your browser (they also have a mobile app you can download as well.)
Step 2. Create a MetaMask account
Now that you have MetaMask installed on your browser, it’s time to create your account. To do this:
- Click on the MetaMask icon at the top right of your browser window. This will open a new page welcoming you.
- Click on the blue “Get Started” button.
- If you are a brand new user, click on the “Create a Wallet” button on the right side of your screen.
- The next screen will ask you to share user data to improve MetaMask. You can choose to share or not.
- Next, create your password. Make sure it’s strong!
- After you’ve created your password and accepted the Terms of Use, click “Reveal Secret Words.” You will see a 12 word seed phrase. Save the seed phrase in a secure location and click “Next.”
*Additional Security tips:
Write the seed phrase on a piece of paper and store it in a secure location.
NEVER SHARE YOUR SEED PHRASE WITH ANYONE.
7. Finally, verify your seed phrase and click “Confirm.”
Congrats again! You have successfully created your MetaMask account and are ready to start exploring the world of web3.
Step 3. Fund your account with USDC
The final step is to fund your new MetaMask account. On Uniswap, we will have a USD Coin (USDC) pairing, so you will need it to purchase FLY. You can do so by heading over to a centralized crypto exchange like Coinbase, FTX, or Binance. Once you’ve purchased some USDC, send it over to your MetaMask wallet (make sure to double-check the address!) Additionally, be sure to keep a small amount of ETH in your account as well for gas fees. You can purchase ETH directly in MetaMask using a credit/debit card. That’s it! You are now officially ready to swap your USDC for FLY on Uniswap come April 14th.
