Darrell “Baby D” Davis is entering his junior year for the Dayton Flyers this season. Davis came out of Frederick Douglas High School in Michigan as the 112th best player in the nation according to Rivals.com, the 24th best shooting guard, and the 5th best player in Michigan according to ESPN. Baby D attracted many colleges due to his multiple accolades, including offers from Michigan State and Flordia State. Davis was AP class B player of the year, 5th in Mr. Michigan Basketball voting, and was valedictorian of his class, with a 4.0 GPA.

As a freshman, Baby D lit it up, averaging 4.8 ppg and leading the Atlantic 10 in 3pt shooting, shooting at a Steph Curry-esque 45.2%, totaling 47–104 from the trifecta. Many Flyer fans thought they had an up and coming star, at one point everybody in UD Arena forgot the last time he missed a 3. His best performance came against Boston university when he amassed 19 points shooting 5–5 from the 3pt line. Since his freshman year Baby D has yet to find his groove.

In his sophomore season, Davis only managed to have a game high of 15 points against SEMO ST, four less than his freshman year season high. Although having down numbers, there were still glimpses of what Flyer fans thought Darrell was capable of as he went on a personal 8–0 run against Vanderbilt sparking a huge UD win and also making a huge 3 to put the flyers ahead of Rhode Island in a 68–66 win.

Coming into this season, Davis hopes to get his mojo back and contribute to a talented Flyers team, which comes into the season as the A-10 favorite and is receiving Top 25 votes in the Preseason AP polls.

Here is a look at Baby D’s highlights from the 2015–2016 season.
