¿Qué tienen los ríos perfectos? / What do perfect rivers have?
Es difícil definir un río como perfecto, ya que muchas veces hay factores personales que influyen en esa percepción. Pero hace pocos días, tuve la suerte de visitar uno que se acerca a mi propia definición de “el río perfecto”. El Río Cochamó.
Primero, hay truchas, saludables, combativas, selectivas, pero dispuestas a atacar una imitación bien presentada, incluso en superficie. Segundo (y quizás esto es primero), el escenario es impresionante, combinando — a gusto — montañas, bosques verdes, y un lecho de rocas limpias, en aguas cristalinas. Y por supuesto, finalmente, pero no menos importante, es la compañía de pesca. En este caso, mi mujer y el gran Felipe Carrasco, de Black Trout Outfitters, que se está especializando en flotar y pescar este río como nadie más.
It’s hard to define a river as perfect, since many personal factors influence that perception. But just a few days ago, I had the luck to visit one of those who really focuses on my own “perfect river” definition. Cochamo River.
First, healthy, feisty, selective trout, always willing to strike a well presented imitation, even on the surface. Second (and probably first), an impressive scenario, combining mountains, green surrounding forest, a freestone riverbed, and crystal clear waters. And finally, but not least, the company. In this case, my wife, and the great Felipe Carrasco, from Black Trout Outfitters, who is quickly becoming the finest expert in floating and fishing this wonderful river in Southern Chile.
