Source: Toyota

From women’s basketball to men’s sport climbing, artistic swimming to track cycling, Flynn consumed a lot of Olympic content over the last two weeks of action in Tokyo. Of course, given our long advertising and video production history, we also paid a lot of attention to the commercials. Team Flynn put the following advertisers on the podium:

Inspirational: Toyota/Jessica Long’s Story (Gold)

This powerful true story from Toyota was our overall — and overwhelming — winner. While not new (the spot debuted during this year’s Super Bowl), its Olympic/Paralympic tie-in, unique visual storytelling, and uplifting, emotional message (“It might not be easy, but it will be amazing.”) helped it top our podium.

Humor: GEICO/McKayla Maroney Saves the Day (Silver)

Featuring an acrobatically helpful (and then extremely annoyed) former Olympic medal winner, GEICO’s spot starring McKayla Maroney offers a nice gymnastics twist on their “So what are you waiting for?” series of spots.

Insight/Data Driven: Secret/Just Watch Me (Bronze)

In this spot for Secret, we learn that girls are twice as likely as boys to drop out of sports by age 14. To “help girls become tomorrow’s champions” (potentially including the next Serena Williams, who makes a brief appearance), Secret also highlights a promotion in partnership with Walmart and the Women’s Sports Foundation.

Cheering on our hometown team(s)

We’d also like to give a special shout out to the clients whose Flynn-produced spots ran during the Olympics: Canandaigua National Bank & Trust, Rochester Colonial, and Segar & Sciortino.
