Horsetooth offers multiple hiking trails with beautiful scenery, along with great camping spots, biking paths, swimming spots, and much more. With about six miles of water surrounded by mountains, it is extremely easy to get active and enjoy the day, which makes this location my personal favorite on the list.

4. City Park

City Park is another popular location in Fort Collins that was built around Sheldon Lake back in 1907. What differentiates City Park with other local parks are the winter activities. Sheldon lake is a great swimming and fishing spot for the summer, and the lake remains active during the winter as well with ice fishing, skating and pond hockey. There is so much to do at City Park all year long, making it a great place to visit if you live in Fort Collins.
