Easily, we find ourselves walking past one another nonchalantly, often missing distinctive details that make us who we are. Fashion can reveal a lot about a person — or simply just be a last minute decision. Regardless, fashion trends have come and gone throughout time and serve as indicators of the events and cultures of their respective eras. Whether sourced locally, straight from Foothills Mall, or found on online retailers; here are some fashion trends you can spot on the streets of Fort Collins:

Statement footwear

While the Doc Martens and Air Force 1s remain a staple in many people’s closets, statement footwear is upon its return. Since Balenciaga’s release of the sock sneaker, consumers are stepping away from subtlety. From colorful sneakers to platform heels — all eyes are on the feet.

Candy colors

The uprise of Y2K fashion came with the resurgence of candy colored clothing. Bubblegum pink, cotton candy blue, creamsicle orange, and mint green are in this sweet range. Notable fashion houses like Valentino, Chanel, Acne Studios, and Prada have all been rocking this sugary trend. Fast fashion brands like Shein and H&M have your sweet tooth satisfactions available now.

Loose-fitting pants

Now that the skinny jean and jogger are out, baggy pants are in. Cargo pants, baggy jeans, and larger chino pants can be seen in men and women’s fashion. Zip up this trend.

Oversized tops

While crop tops and body-con tanks are still seen around, oversized tops have been seen all around the streets. High profile celebrities like Ariana Grande have infamously rocked oversized tops, but now FoCo residents can too with a quick stop on their down-the-street boutique, Acey Designs.

Graphic tees (stylishly outdated ones, though)

Y2K has done it again, and put it on a graphic tee shirt. From bands to impactful social justice messages, graphic tees have made a come back but with the same style seen in the early 2000s. Icons like Rihanna and influencers like Addison Rae have been seen sporting them. Urban Outfitters has a great selection.
