Parking in Fort Collins, specifically near Colorado State University’s campus, is incredibly difficult sometimes. There are multiple aspects of parking near campus that can be very frustrating for many students and Fort Collins Residents. One aspect is incredibly high parking permit rates at apartment buildings and almost the entirety of campus. This not only creates higher monthly rent payments for apartment renters, but difficult parking options for those commuting to campus. Along with this students who live on campus who have a car have almost no choice but to buy a permit. Resulting from this Fort Collins has seen more students seeking cheaper street parking near by. This only confronts students and residents with more problems, tickets and towing. Not only that but there is also the concern of safety against damage or theft. In this listicle I will try to help aid students and residents in not only finding safe and cheap places to park, but where to find help if you are affected by this problem.

  1. Safe places to park in Fort Collins

Fort Collins has many signs posted in areas with towing information. The majority of the time when you get towed it depends on where your car was parked. However this is not always the case. Here is how to find your car if you are not sure. First you need to know your license plate number and VIN. You can then visit http://findmytow.com/ and enter this information. Once you find your car with this you should ideally pick it up quick. Towing company’s will charge you daily fees to have the car in the impound.

4. City-owned parking lots

When it comes to parking, sometimes your only option is city-owned street or lot parking. This can be a tricky option because Fort Collins Parking Services regulate parking Monday-Saturday. They do this to ensure ideal turnover of vehicles around the city. If this is your option it would be a good idea to know some of the more popular city-owned lots. Along with this remember that it is within your best interest to monitor and move your car regularly.
