Teachers have hard jobs. Pay is low, expenses are high and students and parents never give them a break. Fortunately, there are businesses everywhere that feel sympathy towards teachers, and offer them nice things, often in the form of discounts for that business.

Here are five of the best teacher-friendly places in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado.

Staples doesn’t quite offer straight-up discounts, but it does still accommodate teachers with its Teacher Rewards Program. Using this program, teachers get 5% in points back on all purchases and 10% back on classroom purchases. The Fort Collins Staples is located in the Front Range Village off of Harmony Road.

2. Michael’s

Michael’s offers 15% off all purchases every day, in-store and online, and all that’s required is a valid school ID. The Fort Collins Michaels is off of South College Avenue and East Troutman Parkway.

3. Joann Fabrics

With more than 865 locations nationwide, it isn’t hard to find a Joann Fabrics near you, which is fortunate for teachers. Their Teacher Rewards offers teachers 15% on all purchases, and new members get a 20% off bonus for signing up. The Joann Fabrics in Fort Collins is just off of South College Avenue and West Harvard Street.

4. Barnes and Noble

Barnes and Noble, the national bookstore, offers educators 20% off their classroom purchases and 25% off list price during their Educator Appreciation Days. In Fort Collins, Barnes and Noble is located on South College Avenue between Harmony and Horsetooth Roads.

5. Home Depot

Public school teachers can apply for tax-free exemptions with a Federal Government Purchase Card. This is great for the woodshop teacher in your school, or just for any school supplies purchased from Home Depot. Fort Collins has two Home Depots: one off of Mulberry Street and Lemay Avenue and another in the Harmony Marketplace.
