FORT COLLINS — -Colorado is known to be the most athletic state in the United States, which is a victory on its own for Coloradans. But, Fort Collins, Colorado makes all the difference when it comes to convenience and outdoor activity. Outdoor enthusiasts have many options in and around FOCO to get in their exercise no matter what type.

“According to the Centers for Disease Control’s 500 cities project, Fort Collins is in the top 5 cities in the United States for active residents.” (TheDenverChannel).

As many residents of Fort Collins know the city is very biker-friendly with over 285 miles of bike paths and lanes across town. (VisitFortCollins). This gives access to bikers and runners to go outside and exercise. Fort Collins is also home to many hiking trails and mountain biking areas in the foothills of Horsetooth Reservoir and Lory State Park. Aquatics is even covered with the Poudre River that flows right through downtown. Fort Collins has many outlets for outdoor activities. You just have to go out and find them. P.S. It’s very easy.

To add some more play into the workout there are many opportunities to exercise while having fun. “One of Fort Collins’ 50 parks, City Park located off of Mulberry Street is home to many fun activities like outdoor basketball courts, baseball fields, tennis courts, a pool, and even a golf course, (although not located on-site.).” (VisitFortCollins). Putting a little sport into exercise is a great way to enjoy it and continue to do so, adding to the healthy community of FOCO.

Not only is Fort Collins filled with outdoor activities for anyone’s liking, but it is also surrounded by other active towns and recreation areas. Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, Colorado, and Devils Backbone in Loveland are great places to start looking.
