Having the best high school baseball program goes way beyond the field of play. It all comes down to consistency, excellency, and legacy. Rocky Mountain High School baseball has exhibited each of these traits for nearly fifteen years.

Former Rocky Mountain Lobo, Drew Marquez, recalls his memory of winning the state championship in 2007 during his senior year when he states, “I remember having tears in my eyes while I stood on the field. Next thing I knew, baseball mitts were thrown into the air and we all sprinted into a big ‘ole dog pile on the mound.” Since that exact moment, the Lobos went on to win five more state championships, three of which occurred one year after another resulting in four straight state championship victories. No high school in the Poudre School District has ever won four baseball state championships in a row except Rocky Mountain High School.

Not to mention that the stellar closing pitcher helping lead his team to being back-to-back [-to-back-to-back] champions was none other than Marco Gonzales, former Rocky Mountain Lobo and current Seattle Mariner. However, he could not have done it the first two years without his fellow infielder Andy Burns, former short stop for the Rocky Mountain High Lobos and current infielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Keep in mind Burns and Gonzales are not the only notable Rocky Mountain alumni to charge towards the big leagues. Rocky is the only high school in the Poudre School District to produce not just two, but three rockstar players that are currently active in the MLB.

Rocky Mountain has not only been famed for its numerous state victories in a limited amount of time, but also for conditioning players to become some of the very best of the best.
