Bank accounts have suffered due to the Coronavirus. Furlough’s and lay-offs have unfairly penalized many. And while many have turned to cooking meal after meal at home, I’ve looked for some valuable and affordable deals for those who don’t want to suffer through another round of cleaning dishes and just want a break from their oven or stove.

4. The Melting Pot

In the heart of Old Town lies the pride of Swiss-style cooking. The fondue restaurant, The Melting Pot is a destination restaurant, bringing in guests from all over Colorado and even some from Wyoming! The staff has earned numerous awards, ranging from charity fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to earning the top-rated staff trophy among all 98 locations.

Though the initial cost can deter college students and those who don’t earn the same income pre-COVID, their “Sunset Special” deal allows many to dine without forking over their wallet.

Sunset Special

Valid: M-F 5–5:45 p.m. | Sat & Sun 4–4:45 p.m.
Three courses: Choice of cheese, choice of salad, featured Entrée + Select bottle of wine
Cost: $75 per couple

Entrée consists of: Herb-crusted chicken breat, teriyaki-marinated sirloin, Memphis-style BBQ pork tenderloin, Pacific white shrimp and wild mushroom sacchetti’s, complimented by a vegetable medley, dipping sauces and court bouillon cooking style.

3. Fuzzy’s Taco Shop

In a list full of dinners, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop manages to join the list with a delicious breakfast deal for those near their Campus West/Elizabeth location. Before 11:00 a.m., it’s all about the breakfast tacos!

Early Morning Tacos

Valid: Any day before 11:00 a.m.
Cost: $1.50 breakfast tacos

“I always get the breakfast tacos at this place,” says Taylor S. of Yelp.com. “You can’t go wrong with eggs and chorizo and loads of cheese.”

Not interested in cooking before class? On the go but it’s too early for burgers and fast food? Calling in an order of chorizo, potato, egg, and cheese breakfast tacos is the way to go! Not feeling the chorizo? You’re welcome to opt for the bacon, potato, egg and cheese tacos, then. Three tacos for $4.50 is a no-brainer for those who want to not dine at an expensive brunch restaurant for overpriced mimosa’s and toast.

2. JAWS Sushi

Balancing price and quality for sushi is a tight-rope walk without a net. Sacrificing quality for price is a dangerous avenue and affording quality sushi can drain a bank account. However, a lunch special offered by JAWS Sushi leaves you satisfied.

Lunch Specials

Special 1: Any Regular Roll OR one 2pc. Nigiri + a Dynamite/Chum Bucket — $10
Special 2: Any two Regular rolls OR two 2 pc. Nigiri + a Dynamite/Chum Bucket — $12

“I don’t know of a better sushi deal,” said Josh S., a customer of JAWS Sushi. “The seafood is always so fresh and so good. I haven’t gone to the other places in a long time because this deal and this quality can’t be matched.”

Enjoying two sushi rolls alongside a seafood rice bowl for under $15 is nigh-impossible to beat.

1. Krazy Karl’s

There’s a phrase about pizza. When it’s good it’s great, and when it’s bad… it’s still pretty good. However, Krazy Karl’s pizza is among the best in Fort Collins, Colorado, and their Beat The Clock deal is unrivaled.

Beat the Clock!

Valid: Monday & Thursday 5–8 p.m.

Between 5–8 p.m., the time you call is the price of your large 1-topping pizza.

Some of the best pizza in town and you can land a one-topping pie for only five dollars. There’s not a deal better for college kids to enjoy.

“My roommate and I order this every Thursday,” said Alyse Wells, a frequent customer of Krazy Karl’s. “You get the best pizza in town for cheap and we just take it home and watch TV together.”

There you have it, folks. A big one-topping pie to enjoy before or during Thursday Night Football can’t be beat. If you want the best deal in town for good food at a great price, it’s Krazy Karl’s or bust.
