Your Data Storage Solution

Challenges

The endless photos, videos, and documents you make… where do you keep them? Many people do not know where their data is handled.

The trillion-dollar tech monopolies control this cloud. And they have a horrible record of data leaks, being hacked, or selling access to your data.

But that’s not all. When your data sits in the cloud, it’s no longer truly yours. It could end up contributing to other AI models without your knowledge or permission. So, next time you snap a pic or save a document, consider where it’s going — and who owns it.

The Solution — Foggie Max

Foggie Max is a simple solution, with a twist, that restores your ownership over your data. Foggie Max stores your files on your device in your own home and you can keep a copy that is end-to-end encrypted on somebody else’s Foggie.

1. Physical device

Foggie Max gives you a physical device that is your personal data vault. It stores your data securely and in your own home. It also allows you to access this data from anywhere using end-to-end encryption.

You can also share your data — like a shared drive or a shared album — from your Foggie without paying for or relying on any service provider.

The physical device gives you a tangible and intuitive sense of your data ownership and privacy.

This beautiful appliance is quiet and looks great on your desk or fits tucked away in your closet.

2. It is open-source

The software inside Foggie Max is built on the open-source protocol CYFS (https://github.com/buckyos/CYFS) which defines the rules and standards for data storage, encryption, verification, and sharing. The protocol is transparent and auditable and allows anyone to join and contribute to the network. CYFS also supports third-party applications that you can load AI agents (in progress).

Protocols from CYFS implemented in your Foggie Max support a mutual backup system. This allows your Foggie to keep end-to-end encrypted backups across different devices (your friends, or from the network). And it handles recovery if those devices go offline using error cording, similar to how RAID works (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID). This ensures your data is always backed up and recoverable, even if some devices fail or go offline.

3. Nash system design

When you backup data on your Foggie Max (using end-to-end encryption) to another person’s Foggie Max, you are relying on them to keep that backup device online. Those devices are managed by the community, not a single service provider like Dropbox, Apple iCloud, or other trillion-dollar companies. How do we ensure these services stay online and work well when there is not a single company behind them?

We use Nash system design inside of CYFS and DMC, the technologies inside Foggie Max. These are the same kinds of ideas that power Bitcoin, a network that has been online since 2008, has kept all the data ever stored on it, and uses cryptography that has never been broken. The Nash system design incentivizes users to contribute their idle computing resources to the network and rewards them with tokens for their participation. The Nash system design also prevents any malicious or selfish behavior from disrupting the network and ensures that users’ data is always available and consistent. These systems use smart contracts like ERC-7585 on a blockchain to handle transactions and guarantee the rights of participants.

A Web3 Game Changer

Foggie Max aligns with the Web3 vision — a future built on open, compatible software supporting individual freedoms. Web3 also aims to address the current problems and challenges of the internet, such as data privacy, security, censorship, and monopoly. Foggie Max is a pioneer and leader in the Web3 movement and strives to create a more democratic and equitable data economy and society. Foggie Max improves on other projects like IPFS that also share this vision, while also remaining compatible.

DMC and AI

The team working on Foggie Max is also building these new applications to provide powerful and flexible AI infrastructure. Future versions of Foggie Max with AI hardware installed would allow users to run various AI models and algorithms on their data, such as machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and speech recognition. The AI infrastructure also respects users’ data privacy and sovereignty and does not expose or transfer users’ data to any external parties or platforms. The AI infrastructure adapts to each country’s culture and individual identity and creates a personalized and customized digital identity for each user.

Conclusion

Foggie Max supports data storage today. It is a data privacy platform that puts customers first and gives them freedom and control over their data. For the future, the Fog Works team is also building with the community for new applications to use your data with AI on-premises. We work together to contribute to the common good and welfare of the network and the community. Foggie Max is the future of data privacy and personal AI computing.
