4 Interesting Facts About The Star Wars Books

I’ve seen a few of the Star Wars movies, and I mostly believe that the books are always better than the movie. Not that I was in love with the movies, I wanted to do a little research on Star Wars books in honor of “May the 4th.”

Even as a minimal fan of this universe, I found these facts about how the books and movies intertwine.

Star Wars is not based on a book! It was initially a screenplay by George Lucas, but the first book was written and published in 1966, shortly before the film premiered in February 1977.

In 1990, Timothy Zahn wrote a trilogy about the events following Return of the Jedi. Zahn also created a planet called Coruscant, also known as the Capitol City planet, which may not have ever been a thing if it weren’t for his books.

Bonus fun fact: Coruscant means glittering, sparkling.
