Metallica is a rock band that was established in 1981 by the vocalist James Hatfield. Metallica is a well-known band still today and they have had many hits including their hit the unforgiven and the unforgiven II. Therefore, in case you are not familiar with Metallica and the song the unforgiven II then I want to start with a little background behind the first song the unforgiven so that you can be up to date on what led to the song the unforgiven II.

The unforgiven was originally written and released in October of 1981. The song is was off their second single and their fifth album. The song is considered a rock ballad and the meaning behind it runs deep. The singers mom had became ill and with her illness and the family religion the members of the family believed in gods healing only and did not allow her son to get her any extra medical attention. When his mother died he wrote this song questioning the legitimacy of religion. He goes on in the song to become older and lives with the same hatred toward his family not letting him be his own person and trust his decisions and he chooses to not forgive them as he grows into an old man.

Now moving onto the unforgiven II we know that this song is based off the first one and we already know a little background behind it. When Metallica decided to come out with the unforgiven II they made it to start with the same exact note…
