Are you in a fish bowl? Brian Johnson thought so when he was having his discussion with Rich Roll.

The thing about fish bowls is that you are usually unaware of them, yet they define how large or small you view your world, which also caps what you believe you can do in your lifetime.

Sometimes I am astonished by how people seem to be content to accomplish so little, but often it’s because they never believed they could have done more.

We are all victims of this, however. Consider the first man to run a sub-four-minute mile, Roger Banister, who was the first man in all of recorded history to run a mile in under 4 minutes. Guess how long it took someone to beat him, another couple of millennia? Nope, 46 days.

Once the mold is broken, we are freed to dream of more. Have you ever witnessed what won gold in the Olympics 50 years ago compared to what you have to do to win gold now? It’s stunning.

“You should be far more concerned with your current trajectory than with your current results.” James Clear.

Think in decades and act in moments is a phrase that I have been thinking of quite a bit lately. It encourages you to see as far…
