lead the way

what I meant was,
be brave about your desires.
write them down, so you will be able to speak them one day.
not just to yourself, but aloud.
for someone who can’t yet.
be playful even in cruelty.
get to know yourself, to stay in motion.
be heard.

there is a reason why you are scared of sticking up for yourself, but know that you are always the bigger reason. you are always worthy.

and maybe knowing that we’re all in the same boat, that we’re all shamelessly insecure, that we’ll always be able to point to someone who’s strengths are
stronger, who’s visions are more vivid, who’s path is clearer, who’s
voice is softer, who’s love is more intentional. seemingly.

and know that those people feel the same way about someone else. pointing
right back, while their inner well runs dry.

admiring each other.

maybe that would be a more beautiful way of looking at it. that in the end we all look up to one another in unreasonable fear. too scared to admit that at times
we all wanna be someone else, while someone else wants to be like us.
it seems like an irrational and far too complicated way of bringing affection back around.

but maybe we learn. and maybe we even grow a little.
lead the way.
be kind to your desires, so someone else might allow themself to be kind too.
