The very idea of a vacation puts a smile on our face and fills our heart with joy. Vacations are indeed the best times of our lives that we enjoy with our family, friends, and sometimes alone.

For some people vacations are all about adventure while some other take a trip to find solace, unwind, and relax. Most travel destinations offer a different set of activities for the different type of travellers. The adrenaline junkies find complacency in adventure sports and audacious pursuits while some other quietude seekers would like to spend their vacations laying in a hammock by the beach with a book in hand.

Planning ahead helps you determine the activities you can indulge in when you reach the destination. That way, you can focus and prioritise your hankerings and enjoy the activities you love most. While the details of who, when, where, why, what, and how may seem overwhelming at first, they are all part of a memorable trip.

Do not forget you are going on vacations to take a break from a quotidian routine and enjoy every moment you have in store. When you know you have everything planned ahead, you do not have to think twice or make decisions every moment for every nitty gritty on reaching the destination.

In a well-planned trip, you have your tickets booked, accommodation reserved, itinerary outlined, and travel essentials well-packed; so you can completely enjoy your vacations with a peace of mind. When you reach your holiday destination with a pre-planned itinerary, you are all set to create memories rather than planning out the details of what to do next.

Know the place where you are going, and you are likely not to miss out on anything worth considering. Every destination has some important sites worth visiting. Same is true for their unique festivals or eccentric rituals. Also, every destination has a flavour of its own.

Research about the destination and make an itinerary of the places to visit, the activities to be covered, and the foods to try. As you start searching, you will come to know about the most popular destinations, important festivals, famed exhibits, and must-try signature dishes of the place.

The information will help you in making the most of your trip in the limited time you have. Think about it this way — what do you consider more comfortable? — Reaching to a place and asking locals about what to do or knowing beforehand about what most you can do at the place.

Planning ahead will save you from the epiphany of ‘what should I do now’ amidst your trip. It will save you from uncertain decisions and stress. Plan ahead to make your trip a rewarding experience.

When you plan in advance, you do enough research, and you know when it is best to visit a place at the destination. You know what items to carry for participating in an activity like some adventure sport. In short, you do not scramble on something unanticipated, and you will be saved from thinking about an alternative at the last minute. It will not just save you time and money but also help you avoid backtracking. Eventually, you will have a more organised and accomplished trip.

With a travel itinerary, you know beforehand when it is best to visit a place. You can subdivide the travel time for numerous locations and you can leeway alternatives for unforeseen but potential circumstances like traffic and weather conditions.

When you have a well-planned itinerary, you can effectively and flexibly manage your time. Also, you can estimate your travel cost beforehand with an itinerary. You can effectively determine how much you may need to spend and can accordingly plan your budget for the trip.

Eventually, a well-planned itinerary will help you create a realistic budget. This will save you from overspending on your trip as well as anticipating a lower budget. You will feel more confident and contented with a well-planned trip.

Planning a trip should never be a chore, in fact, it can build anticipation towards your trip and make you feel more prepared and excited about your vacation. Some people might not like the idea of having a plan to bog them down, telling them what time they should be at a particular location.

My advice is — Don’t treat it like a timetable, use it as a guide and most important of all, don’t be afraid to change it on the go, after all, it is your vacation.
