1. You can now stream games from your mobile device, even if you’re not a Verizon customer

Up until this season, Verizon had the exclusive streaming rights for in-market live games only on mobile phones.

As part of a new 5-year $2.5 billion deal with the NFL, Verizon is giving up exclusive mobile streaming rights.

This means that you will now be able to stream on your smartphone with any carrier and across all vMVPDs like fuboTV, Hulu Live TV, Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, DIRECTV NOW, YouTube TV, and CBS All Access.

2. You can now stream all local and primetime games for free on Verizon-properties like Yahoo! Sports on your smartphone or tablet

By giving up exclusive mobile streaming rights, Verizon now has the rights to provide free streaming on smartphones and tablets to live in-market NFL games on any of their sites and apps to all wireless customers.

Starting tonight, you’ll be able to watch live NFL games on Verizon-owned properties like Yahoo Sports, Tumblr, and AOL.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to stream on your TV — you’ll need a Live TV Streaming Service for that

3. You have additional options to stream NFL Network and NFL RedZone without cable

Since last season, there are now 4 streaming services that carry NFL Network and 3 that offer NFL RedZone.

fuboTV ($45), Sling TV ($25), PlayStation Vue ($50), and now DIRECTV NOW ($55) have added NFL Network as part of their various plans.

fuboTV (+$9), Sling TV (+$10), and PlayStation Vue (+$10) each offer NFL RedZone as part of an add-on.

4. You have a better chance to watch you favorite team on your local affiliate with a Live TV Streaming Service

These Live TV Streaming Services have spent the last 6 months adding hundreds of different local CBS, FOX, and NBC affiliates.

This means you should be covered for local NFL on CBS, NFL on FOX, and NBC Sunday Night Football games.

Unfortunately, not every streaming service has every local affiliate. We made a handy chartso you can see which teams are available on each service.

If you want to see what locals are available across every service in your market, use our Local Channel Finder Tool.

5. You can subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket even if you don’t have DirecTV (in some markets)

This season DirecTV has made SundayTicket.TV — the league’s out-of-market package streaming service available to some DIRECTV NOW customers.

Previously, you either needed to be a student or live in an apartment without access to DirecTV to access the service.

Eligible DIRECTV NOW subscribers must maintain their Just Right ($55+) package and live in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Boston, Philadelphia, San Antonio, Hartford, or Louisville.

6. You can stream Amazon’s 11 Thursday Night Football games for free on Twitch

Amazon won the rights to 11 Thursday Night Football games this season. Last year, you needed to be a Prime subscriber to be able to watch games for free.

This year, Amazon will be streaming the games for FREE on Twitch.TV.

None of these games are not exclusive, so if you get FOX or NFL Network through another service — you will be able to watch these games on those as well.
