Let’s Talk Food: Who’s lying about your chicken nuggets?

Is big bad McDonald’s corporation at it again, or is food hero Jamie Oliver telling a twisted tale?

I recently had a discussion with #MeerFood friends via live stream on the Meerkat App about what’s really in chicken nuggets and hotdogs, but the chicken nugget discussion stole the show because a fellow meerkater shared a Jamie Oliver video that shows the TV chef’s rendition of what parts of the chicken are in nuggets, while I shared a video from a Tyson processing plant produced by McDonalds itself and housed on its youtube channel. These two videos show totally different parts of the chicken going into the nuggets.

Both videos are edited productions, one originally produced for TV and the other specifically for youtube. Both videos are made by people with lots of money. We may also need to consider which kinds of nuggets Jamie is referring to; the kind sold at McDonalds or maybe the ones in the frozen section at grocery stores?

So, who’s lying? We as consumers are left to wonder. Watch both videos, do some more research, and decide for yourself.
