For the past two days, the union has been at the negotiating table with Ralphs-Kroger Co. and Albertsons discussing the future of our Grocery contract.

One thing is for sure: this is going to be a tough negotiation. But if we hang tough together as Food Fighters, nothing can stop us.

Here’s what you need to know after Week 1:

1. Two more negotiation dates are scheduled: March 21 and 22.

2. Union negotiators and contract experts are reviewing the initial contract proposals.

3. The companies continue to slow-walk negotiations. They’ve only scheduled four negotiating dates this month.

This is the truth: higher pay does not squeeze profits. When a company like Ralphs-Kroger Co. rakes in $3 billion in profits, there is no excuse not to invest that profit back into the workers whose hard work made it possible. Week 1 is down, but we’re just getting started.

It’s on,
