Lucid sets October date for deliveries of its first lux, long-range EVs
In the latest challenge to Tesla’s once iron-fisted lock on the electric vehicle market, Lucid Group’s long-range, ultra-luxurious electric vehicles have started rolling off assembly lines and should be in customer’s driveways by late October.
Boasting a range of 520 miles on a single charge, and garnering rave reviews for its first models, the first models from Lucid’s big production plant in Arizona began rolling off the assembly line on Tuesday.
The company’s incredible range and stellar styling have definitely thrown down a gauntlet with other automakers. As MotorTrend wrote in its rave review, “for the lucid air, the future is now.”
The company has already received 13,000 reservations for their vehicles and the first 520 Dream Edition vehicles will be shipped first, with the Grand Touring, Touring, and Air Pure model deliveries expected to follow.
Joined by the state’s Governor, Doug Ducey, Lucid’s executive management team laid out a vision for its operations in the state, which would see it create $9 billion in economic output to the state in 2024 and add 15,000 jobs to the state’s economy.
Coming off of the Environmental Protection Agency officially giving the debut car a range estimate of 520 miles on a single charge, Lucid is ready for a victory lap even before its first deliveries hit the road.
The company noted that its Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance and Lucid Air Grand Touring also achieved EPA estimated ranges far beyond any other EV.
“The proprietary EV technology that Lucid has developed will make it possible to travel more miles using less battery energy.,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO, Lucid Group. “Our technology will allow for increasingly lighter, more efficient, and less expensive EVs, and today represents a major step in our journey to expand the accessibility of more sustainable transportation.”
