He is a defender who tends to split opinion, you either love him or hate him. It would seem Antonio Conte has chosen the later option.

Luiz (30) was left out of the Chelsea squad that got the better of Manchester United on Sunday.

Pictured along side international counterpart Kenedy watching the game from the stands it is rumored that Luiz is facing a spell on the sidelines thanks to an argument between him and Conte which occurred last week.

Conte was believed to have been furious with David Luiz after the Brazilian Defender openly questioned the bosses tactics against Roma. Given the uninspired performance from the entire Chelsea team during the 3–0 drubbing by Roma, It turns out the Brazilian might have had a point.

It is understood that Conte removed Luiz from training within ten minutes of their Saturday training session in preparation for the game against United. The Chelsea defender was left with no other option than to watch the rest of the team train. Chelsea have since denied this claim.

Having started 8 of the 10 Premier League games so far this season and bagging an impressive three goals in the Champions League so far, this might come as a surprise to the Chelsea support who have been impressed by Luiz since rejoining the club in August 2016.

Luiz previously left Chelsea in June 2014 to join PSG in an eyewatering £50M transfer.

Since his return he has worked his way back into the first team plans of Antonio Conte but it looks like that is set to change.

The Italian manger had this to say about the incident:

“He has to work really hard otherwise he is on the bench or in the stand. David played a normal part in training, for a player who was not in the next match day squad,” a Chelsea spokesman said.

“He was alternated in and out of training, which would be normal. He certainly wasn’t pulled from training and forced to watch.”

Is it possible that the Brazilian will follow in the footsteps of Diego Costa and leave the club over a bust-up with management?
