Footium Player Cards

Footium Player Cards display a key overview of each Player, including information about their age, ratings and potential. You can see what each part of the card means via the graphic below!

Age

Footium Players all generate with an Age. Players can be generated from ages 18–31 in the Player Launch. Players will retire from being a Footium Player at age 32 (they will play their last season at 31 years old).

Nationality

Footium Players all have a nationality. Player Nationality also informs the Player’s name, based on popular names from that country. There are currently 16 Nationalities in Footium, which are shown below:

Positions

Players are generated with a rating in their Top position, followed by ratings in other positions.

Players are likely to have close ratings in similar positions, e.g. a CM being 50 rated, but 48 rated in DM and 46 in AM. At LWB, they would likely be rated a lot lower.

Players will always show their rating in their Top position on their card. They can also show a 2nd and 3rd position on the card if those positional ratings are close to their Top position’s rating.

Rarity

Player Cards show the Rarity of each Footium Player by the colour of the card’s background. Card Rarity is determined by the player’s rating in their Top Position. In the Player Launch, there will 4 Player Rarities:

Common means a Player is rated between 20–39

Bronze means a Player is rated between 40–54

Silver means a Player is rated between 55–69

Gold means a Player is rated 70+

In future, there will be Rare and Legendary Players in the game. These are players who spawn at a good initial rating but have much higher potential than normal cards.

Potential

All Footium Players have a Total Potential rating, which is how many ratings they can grow in their entire career. Normal players spawn with between 15–25 Total Potential.

Players generated in the initial squads will have already used some of their potential, which can be seen via the Potential Bar on the Player Card.

Players in the Players Launch will generate with some unlocked potential. To unlock more of a Player’s Total Potential, they must play in matches. As they accumulate minutes of play-time, they will unlock more Potential!

Every time a player is trained, they use up one Potential. This means that a player that you sign from your Club Academy as a 40 rated LB who is also 35 rated in DM, and has 20 Total Potential, could be grown in different ways:

  • All 20 Potential Points into LB would make them into a 60 LB, 35 DM once fully trained
  • Splitting Potential Points evenly across LB and DM would mean they become a 50 LB, 45 DM once fully trained
  • And any other combination of growth potential you can think of! You could put all 20 points into RW if you’d like (A Gareth Bale Transformation story?)

Attributes

Footium Players currently have three attributes. These are:

  • Footedness — All Footium Players are either Left or Right Footed. This effects their initial player generation, making them naturally favour one side over the other. The player’s preferred side can be changed by training though (you could convert a natural left-footed left winger into a left-footed right winger — Arjen Robben inbound!)
  • Stamina — All Footium Players have a Stamina rating. Having a higher Stamina means your player will lose condition less rapidly when playing in matches. Stamina does not impact Training condition loss or condition recovery. Players also lose different amounts of condition during games depending on what position they are playing in and the team’s mentality.
  • Leadership — All Footium Players have a Leadership rating. Leadership determines how effective each Player is as your Line-up’s Captain. A higher Leadership rating on your Captain means your team will receive a bigger boost.

Future Player Generation

As mentioned in the Age section, Footium Players retire at the age of 32, meaning there needs to be a new source of Players entering the game each season.

New players will enter the game through Club Academies. Each season, your Club Academy presents you with the best prospects at the Club.

You can choose to sign them to the first team by minting them. Once minted, they become real Footium Players, who can train and play for your club. They can also then be sold on the transfer market if you want to cash-in on your wonderkids!

If the presented Academy prospects are not minted by the end of the season, they will disappear from your Club Academy.

The quality of Academy prospects you receive each season depends upon the Division of your Footium Club. All Clubs will have a chance to spawn Rare Academy Prospects in their Academy from Launch, but this chance decreases further down the Divisions.

We had originally communicated that Academy Prospects would be able to train and play for clubs before minting, and would also exist in your Club Academy for 3 seasons rather than 1. The above is obviously a change to that.

These are not changes we have made lightly, but we have decided to make these changes for the long-term health of Footium’s game economy.

To compensate for this change we have generated larger squads than originally intended in the Player Launch today. These squads will consist of 23 players to give you more depth in your initial squad. It also means that Footium can be played without needing to mint Academy Prospects for at least the first few seasons (by which time, you’ll have hopefully bagged yourself some prize money!).

What’s Next?

In the next few days, your Players will be with your Footium Clubs and available to trade + transfer. It’s time to shape your dream squad and get ready for the next Season!
