Welcome to the Footium Training Guide! This guide will help you understand the training feature within Footium, allowing you to grow your players’ skills and ratings as you climb the Footium Football League.

Recapping Player Potential

The ability to train players is directly made possible by a player’s potential. Each player’s card and in-game stats show their total potential, unlocked potential, and used potential.

Potential is unlocked by playing matches. Accumulating minutes on the pitch during matches contributes to unlocking a player’s potential, once they accumulate a certain amount, they unlock their next potential rating which can then be used for training. A player can unlock up to their maximum total potential through game time, but once that limit is reached, they wont earn any more!

Navigating to the Training Feature

To begin training your players, you must have an unlocked training ground, which is only available during certain times in the season. Once it’s opened, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Footium account and navigate to the game hub at footium.club/game.
  2. On the left-hand menu, scroll down past leagues and my club to find and click on “Training”.
  3. You will see two training slots available for your use (only when training is live)

Setting Up Training

To set up training:

  1. Click the plus sign in the middle of one of the training slots.
  2. A tab will open, displaying your players on the left and a position grid on the right.
  3. Look for players with available potential, and the condition needed to complete training. This is indicated on the list on the left.
  4. Take heed of player status icons; a ‘shirt’ if they are currently in the matchday squad, a yellow calendar icon means they’re retiring at the end of the season, and cards if they’re suspended/close to suspension.
  5. Select a player to train, and then choose a position from the grid. (Green indicates the player’s best positions, while red indicates their worst.)
  6. Review the details such as condition reduction, time taken, and potential used.
  7. Click “Start Training” and sign the confirmation request in your wallet.

NOTE: If you are using mobile, after selecting a player to train, you’ll need to scroll down to get the pitch view that allows you to choose the position you’d like to train the player in

The training tab will now show the player’s training status, including the position they are training for and the remaining time it will take for the player to train.

Keep in mind that while a player is in training, they are unavailable for matches and the subs bench, indicated by a green cone next to their name in the tactics tab.

To complete their training, return to the training tab after their allotted training time is up, and finish to complete training (it may take up to 60 seconds after the scheduled finish time for the training finish button to appear).

Training Mechanics

As we’ve touched on, training reduces a player’s condition, similar to the effects of playing a match, and so players below that would reach the minimum condition of 20% after training cannot be trained as they would be too fatigued.

The time duration of training increases with the more potential a player has previously used to improve their skills over their lifetime. Therefore, managing the balance between training and match participation is key to maintaining your players’ fitness and maximising their potential.

Strategies for Training

With this in mind, there’s a multitude of paths you can take as a club owner with how you use your club’s training ground. For example:

  • Specialists: Over a long period, focus on creating positional specialists by improving one player’s skills in a specific position so that they become a star player.
  • All-Rounders: Develop a single player to be versatile in multiple positions, while having lower specific ranks.
  • Overall Improvement: Keep your training sessions quick, by gradually improving the overall average rating of many players in your team.

Training in Footium requires strategic planning to ensure your players reach their full potential without compromising their match fitness. Use this guide to get started and explore the best training strategies for your club.
