In addition to a first-team squad, a youth academy, a kit, and a club badge, every Footium Club also comes with its own stadium. In this article, we’ll take a look at the different elements of stadiums in the game, how they’ll impact your team, and how you can even earn money from them once the game has fully launched.

Overview

Your stadium is where your home matches will take place within Footium and represents the physical home of your Footium Club. Many components of your stadium will be upgradable, adding an extra element to your clubs rivalries.

Some upgrades will even have a small effect on your team’s performance, while others will be purely cosmetic for you to flex on your rivals.

Designs

Clubs starting off in higher divisions will come with more modern-looking stadiums, while lower division clubs will come with a more traditionally designed stadium.

Naturally, higher division clubs start off with higher stadium capacities than lower division clubs. For example, Division 1 side Haddle FC have a stadium capacity of just over 34,000, while Division 2’s Irthert City have a stadium capacity of 19,125.

However, that doesn’t mean your stadium will look the same or remain the same size forever.

Customisation

Club owners will be able to invest capital to enhance their stadium. Higher division clubs will be able to upgrade their stadiums further, and winning cup competitions may also unlock special stadium pieces. Clubs in higher divisions will have access to higher quality design pieces than those in lower divisions.

The exact detail of the customisation options is yet to be confirmed, but players will eventually have the ability to upgrade individual pieces or components of their stadium, such as terrace pieces, roof pieces, seat pieces, etc.

The customisation won’t end there. Club owners can improve their surrounding areas such as car parks, kiosks, and ticket offices — and even build statues for club legends!

Impact on performance

Home-ground advantage is a real thing. In the most recent Premier League season, 15 out of the 20 clubs picked up more points at home than they did on the road.

We want that to reflect in Footium as well. Higher stadium capacity will result in higher player morale, resulting in slightly increased player performances.

By investing in stadium upgrades to increase capacity, you can materially impact your home-ground advantage and make your stadium a fortress feared by rival clubs.

Sponsorship opportunities

In the future, the aim is to make stadiums income-generating assets for club owners.

In real-world football, numerous elite clubs have sold their stadium naming rights to club sponsors – think Spotify Camp Nou, Emirates Stadium, Etihad Stadium, etc.

As the in-game ecosystem develops, we hope to see Footium Club owners earn an income from similar sponsorship deals. Furthermore, once 3D simulation matches are ready, advertising boards will also become a possibility.
