There is hardly anything that can be said about 2020 that hasn’t already been said, but like many, we are hopeful that 2021 proves to be a year of improvement. As Tab for a Cause grows, we look to your feedback in deciding how we can improve. One of the consistent pieces of feedback over the last 6 months has been in filling a gap in the issues addressed by our partner charities: racial justice in the United States. This was highlighted by the overwhelming support for two spotlight campaigns in 2020 in support of the NAACP LDF and Equal Justice Initiative.

We recognize the pain and injustice that has been felt around the world by the Black community and other communities of color will not be fixed by one charity, but we do hope to bring more attention and financial support to an organization that is working for positive change. We believe that every person has the right to thrive without threats of violence or prejudice.

We would love your help in selecting a new, nonprofit partner for Tab for a Cause! We have compiled a list of 7 amazing organizations that support an array of issues stretching from Black women’s health, to criminal justice, to women of color gaining access to careers in STEM. (We must note that unfortunately, we can’t guarantee the most requested charity will be our new charity partner, as our partnerships require interest from the organization being supported as well, but we plan to use this poll as a way to determine where we should begin reaching out and to show that our community has a strong interest in supporting their cause.) Any of the charities not selected will absolutely be eligible to be featured in a Charity Spotlight Campaign.

How did we pick these charities? We looked for organizations that support the Black community in a variety of ways through policy advocacy and/or grassroots work. We limited our scope to 501(c)(3) organizations that are established (operating for at least 3 years & annual budget greater than ~$2M), work nationally, and are generally regarded as well-run and impactful (a somewhat subjective read of an organization’s governance and transparency). If there are any organizations you’d like to see added in the future please let us know! While we, unfortunately, cannot take on numerous new charity partners at this time, we do hope to expand our list of causes as we grow!

We can’t wait to add another amazing non-profit partner to Tab for a Cause, and look forward to hearing your input along the way.

Thank you so much for the incredible support!
